Beautiful Furniture with a greater purpose
My home was broken into more than once — and losing a family heirloom taught me that no insurance payout replaces what a thing actually means. I looked at safes afterwards, but they don't fit real life: nobody's climbing two flights of stairs to key in a code every night, so the safe sits while your favourite pieces stay locked away instead of worn — and life's too short for that. Furthermore, once a thief finds a vault, they rarely give up. But nothing found is nothing stolen — no forced lock, no insurance battle, no grief over something that was never visible to begin with. That's what Billie Maison is built on. Together with Toon, I started making furniture that hides what matters in plain sight, first in the Netherlands and now handcrafted here in the UK.
Any alternatives in the market of concealment furniture were not up to standard for my home. Beauty and security should never be a trade-off.
